Notable Noah~ Braces

noah braces
The time has come for Noah to get braces.  He is not too happy about it.  That is why I had to wait almost two weeks to get this picture!
I think the only thing he likes about it is the fact that he can change the colors on the braces every month when he goes to get them checked.  We had our second visit yesterday, so guess what colors he chose?  Christmas colors…  He told me he had to “festify” his teeth.  Aside from the fact that he now bites his cheek A LOT when eating, he is getting used to the idea that he has braces.
The first night he had them on, he told me he wished he could take them off at night when he was sleeping, you know, like he can take his glasses off.
See those headphones? Yeah, he wears them all the time now.  In order for Noah to calm down (especially when they put the braces on) I had him listen to a book on his ipod.  And…once he starts listening to a book he listens until it is finished.

Notable Noah

noahglasses
It really doesn’t need words to say that Noah now needs glasses.  It really was inevitable, since just about his whole family wears them.  What the doctor was surprised about what that his left eye is twice as bad as his right eye!  Though, if you ask Noah about it, he will seem quite proud of this fact.  He doesn’t need them all the time, only when he has distances to see.
Noah went around ALL DAY LONG exclaiming about how clear things were now. And saying, “My view with glasses off,(as he pulled them down to the tip of his nose), and now my view with glasses on.”    Really though, I am glad that he likes them.

Notable Noah: New Experience

We did something today, I have never done.  Well, two things actually.
1.  We went to a homeschool activity.  We don’t usually do these, because they are 45 minutes to an hour away.
2. We went ice skating.  Or well, Noah did.  Not me.  I decided to go to this hour away activity, because I wanted Noah to have some ice skating experience.
Besides, the rink manager will help the kids.  Which means I don’t need to get on the ice.  I thought it was a good idea for them to have cones for “helps”.    So, he didn’t hang on the wall the whole time.  Hopefully, as the weeks go by he will abandon the cones, though even the skilled skaters were using them – for fun I guess.

Notable Noah – Something new

We did something today we have never done.  We walked down our road to the end of the street where there is a brand new Big Y Supermarket.
It was my way of doing school with Noah, but in a different way.  I asked him  math facts he’s having trouble with along the way.  He told me stories, and idea after idea that he has…
When we got to Big Y, we got some water, and Noah says he can have science by going over to look at the lobsters.  LOL  ( We are studying crustaceans after all, was his logic)
We certainly got our exercise in for today, as it is 3.8 miles round trip.
Noah says it was all worth it because he got some treasures – his mother calls it junk.  Which is why I am reminded all of the time, “As the saying goes, One man’s junk is another man’s treasure… well, I’m the other man” says Noah.

It kinda blends in.. but this was my not-so-pleasant surprise…a snake, sunning himself.
Believe it or not, I didn’t even freak out.  I managed to stay perfectly calm.

Notable Noah – Making breakfast

Noah wants to learn how to cook.  So, we are starting with basic things first.  Pancakes, grilled cheese, etc…
Today, he wanted to make the eggs for breakfast.  Which is good since we have eggs most every day.  He did a great job.

He says, “Cooking eggs was so fun, he wants to make all the meals for the family!”

Notable Noah

I saw a really neat idea on preserving the current thoughts our kids on Pinterest and 1+1+1=1.
I decided to make my own version, the way I knew how… these are Noah’s likes.
Noah's likes
I created this on Picnik
And the ones that didn’t fit on my picture:
Best show on TV: “In my opinion, Magi-Nation”
The coolest person on Earth: Grandpa
I can most awesomely: draw
I would change my name to:  “I wouldn’t change my name”
If I could go anywhere in the world: “where else, I would go to Africa to dig down to the center of the earth.”
My favorite movie: Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Favorite season of the year: “summer and winter, but winter is better cause you can do more things”
If I could have one wish: “to have enough materials to make working wings”
Three words that describe me: fun, inventive, talkative.

Notable Noah – A hobby

We haven’t done much school at all this past week.  He was sick pretty much the entire week – cough/fever.
But, now we are getting back into the swing of things.  Over the weekend we went to a garage sale which had many (13, in fact) magazines on woodcarving.  Noah bought them all (at 10 cents a piece).  They renewed his wanting to do some woodcarving.

Notable Noah – He’s so creative…

So, Noah has been asking to have a picnic at the lake we swim at for a long time now.  Finally, I got it together to do so.  Noah was creative with his sandwich,  using baby carrots he made the eyes and nose.  The “mouth” was already shaped that way.
So, here his Noah’s version of food art

Notable Noah – Doing his part…

So, I am SO GLAD that Noah can mow the lawn this summer.  I taught him, and he can actually keep a straight line pretty good.  Now, I like to mow the lawn, (when it is not hot out), BUT when it is that’s when it is Noah turn.  He does a really good job.

I know… he’s kinda far away, but I was sitting under the shade tree!  :)
and no, he doesn’t have to mow all that grass.

He seriously likes mowing… he doesn’t even ask for money!

Notable Noah – What do you say to this?

Yesterday Noah washed the dishes,  he started them without telling me.  In the middle of washing, he asked me if  washing dishes could be added to his chores.  Who is going to say no to that, right?
photoof course, as you can see, he used A LOT of dish soap doing them.  :)
BUT, one never really knows what Noah is going so say next!
He comes up to me, arms dripping water, up to his elbows in soap suds, and says, “I am all finished, do you think I’ll make a good husband?”
Just exactly what do you say to a nine year old with a  question like that?  “Ummm… I think you have some more time, but boy, that will be one lucky lady!”   So, Noah says beaming, “Thank you, mom.”

So…Noah is planner…always has been.
He has CONTEMPLATED (it seriously will keep him up at night):
College…. he wants to be an engineer (to invent stuff), and a doctor (to heal people)
His future… an emergency/labratory underground house (cause its different, I guess)
….Five kids and four  dogs…
and now he apparently, he is working on being good husband material.  :)

Needless to say we have discussed this verse a lot.
Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Noah, I love you, and THANK YOU for keeping me on my toes!

Notable Noah – At the Lake!

As he told me today on our way down to the lake for swimming.  “He waits all year for this!”  He loves swimming.  I would have to say it is his #1 sport, baseball 2nd.
Today is OPENING DAY.  And we were there bright. and. early.

Notable Noah – Summer school

I love how Noah is doing his work!  He has not complained one time that I am making him do SCHOOL WORK in the summer.
That just tells me that he must be growing up.

Notable Noah

One of the things we have finished recently is his room.  Finally, it is the way we both agree on .  He like wolves, so that is the main theme.  006The “pile” under the desk is one thing we don’t agree on, but I have to learn…it’s his room.
He says it is his hideout.  It is cute when he holes himself up in there, though.

The RED PART  says “The N Cave”  I love this: he makes request:  1. Get a hug  2.  Play a board game with mom.  So, if I want to go into his room, I have give him a hug, or play a game.
