Gettysburg Address

This is Noah as Abe Lincoln!

Our History program this year is Year 3 from Tapestry of Grace.  We have recently finished learning about the early 1800's through the Civil War.  As TOG suggest we did a unit celebration.  He dressed up as Abraham Lincoln, and memorized the Gettysburg Address to "perform" for us.  I think he did a pretty good job of it. 

Robot Museum!

Noah is very much into robots... He talks about them all the time.  He wants to make them, he wants them to do jobs for him.  He is constantly telling me about ideas he has for what his robots will do one day.  So, when I came across a pamphlet showing an opportunity to go to a Robot exhibit at a museum near us-- we just had to go. 

He loved this part!  Showing others "blueprints" -- Noah has drawn notebooks worth of blueprints of different robots.

All in all, a successful field trip, where he learned cause and effect, what it takes to build robots, and a historical timelime of robots, to name a few.

What We Have Done

My, does time really fly by.  I can't believe that almost 4 weeks have passed since I lasted posted.  But, on a good note we have done much in homeschooling.  We have been learning about the Civil War.  This has been difficult since Noah doesn't like conflict much.  Anyway, I taught him what I thought would be appropriate for a third grade and war.  You know -  the reasons it began, major battles, and where it ended.  Basically, we read books, and watch the movie Glory.  We did map work, and labeled the major battles, with their generals.  Overall, I think he learned something, I am hoping he did.

Last week, we went to the Robot Exhibit in Springfield.  I will post more on that later when I have the pics.  All I can say  was Noah was VERY excited to go to this, as he is interested in all things robot.
